CKC Machinehandel Surmac N.V. or Surmac is the authorized Caterpillar dealer in Suriname established in 1957. In addition, Surmac is also a dealer of other brands. For our Prime Product Sales Department, we are looking for a:

 

SALES REPRESENTATIVE


Description

The Sales representative is responsible for generating leads and meeting sales goals, turning opportunities into added value for both the customer as the company. In addition, the Sales representative is also responsible to provide complete and appropriate solutions for customers using the entire range of Surmac products and services in order to boost revenue growth, customer acquisition levels and profitability.


Job Duties/ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support with sales presentations, product demonstrations, setting up and negotiating contracts with customers;
  • Understand customer business objectives and coordinate internal company resources to ensure customer satisfaction;
  • Lead the customer equipment management process and business planning cycles to ensure that customers’ needs and expectations are met;
  • Service existing accounts and obtain and process sales orders accordingly;
  • Ensure customers payments are executed according to credit control procedures;
  • Establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call and visit existing or potential customers and other trade platforms;
  • Focus on sales and Rental & Used efforts by studying existing and potential volume of dealers;
  • Use the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system as dashboard and also keep management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as customer visits, other interactions, leads and sales reports;
  • Participate in the commercial meetings as well as cross functional meetings involving sales and Rental & Used according to the schedule and contribute in sales analyses;
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.;
  • Recommend changes in products, services and policies by evaluating results and competitive developments;
  • Resolve customer complaints together with other stakeholders/departments by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports and making recommendations to management;
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies / networks;
  • Provide historical records for analysis and strategy development by maintaining records on focus area customers (Small and Medium scale Mining customers);
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing on agreed results;
  • Every year, participate in the development of a departmental business plan for the Sales Department of Surmac based on the Strategy and the Company business plan;
  • Ensure that the budget and the business plan goals are met;
  • Report sales performance results, including recommending actions, improvement programs, following-up audit recommendations;
  • Maintain the necessary contacts for the dealership and do the required reporting to Caterpillar as per instructions;
  • Participate in planned projects and deliver results according to agreed action plans.


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Marketing or Engineering with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a sales, marketing and service environment.
  • Experience in sales and customer relations is preferred.
  • Experience in industrial equipment, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, trucking, or related industries is an advantage.
  • Ability to read equipment specifications and technical documents.
  • Good comprehension of the languages Portuguese and Chinese (Mandarin) is preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of heavy equipment and products.
  • Must have basic understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and heavy machinery systems
  • Experienced in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and sales tracking tools.


Reporting structure

The Sales Representative reports to the Prime Product Sales Manager.

 

Work Schedule

  • 45 hours per week from Monday to Friday.
  • The base work location is at Surmac Paramaribo and the working hours are from 7:00 – 16:00.
  • Availability required for work at the various Surmac locations.
  • Availability outside standard working hours, if required.
