RENTAL & USED AND NICKERIE BRANCH MANAGER


Description

The Rental & Used and Nickerie Branch Manager is responsible for generating and developing new business while maintaining and providing customer service to the existing customer base. Also, mining new opportunities for the Rental Sales and promoting used equipment through Rental Roll Outs and promoting the company’s opportunities such as heavy rent services, previously operated reconditioned and remanufactured equipment and various on-site services fostering a solution-oriented approach to the customer needs.

 

In addition to this the Rental & Used and Nickerie Branch Manager is also responsible for managing the Surmac Nickerie Branch, growing revenue to achieve the company goals and leading the Rental & Used as well as the Nickerie Branch team.


Job Duties/ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer rental service strategies for promotions and products;
  • Manage the execution of the R&U sales strategy to be pursued by Surmac regarding focused market segments;
  • Develop and communicate a rental and used sales coverage plan;
  • Develop and communicate a business plan for Rental and Used segments included:
  • Used Machine Sales (rental roll out, previously operated, reconditioned and remanufactured) and Rental Sales
  • Provide input to planning and budgeting processes;
  • Develop and justify annual budget and forecast;
  • Manage area of responsibility within approved budget;
  • Manage the day-to-day performance of employees;
  • Provide needed coaching, skills and resources to employees;
  • Determine what actions need to be taken to manage assets (including logistics, cost analysis and consequences);
  • Manage daily workflow (workload, resources, equipment process);
  • Manage pricing processes;
  • Maintain good relationships with customers from all market segments;
  • Resolve customer issues in a timely and adequate manner, preventing the need for escalation to senior management;
  • Identify technical problems at the customer and report this to the right Surmac departments and cooperate in finding solutions;
  • Advise the customer in the selection of the equipment and in the applications thereof;
  • Advise and guide the customer when monitoring the quality of equipment for maintenance (deadlines) and applications;
  • Set up and monitor status systems showing all activities between Surmac and customers;
  • Check reports in Salesforce from the activities of sales/ rental reps;
  • Use systems to effectively manage departmental activities e.g. integrate Health, Safety & Environment and Quality into daily work activities, manage costs and promote teamwork through active participation in cross-functional team meetings.;
  • Work in close cooperation with the Sales Manager and other departments namely Service and Marketing;
  • Review accounts receivable with the Finance department and sales staffs once per month to ensure all steps are taken to maintain efficient collections;
  • Monitor Rental & Used department performance through effective use of the CRM (Customer Relation Management) system;
  • Execute actions of the Caterpillar Rental Excellence Programs;
  • Execute actions of the Agco Excellence Programs;
  • Search and order machines according to customers need and feedback of sales reps(Used machines, Power systems < 250 kva, Allied, new Caterpillar for rental fleet);
  • Monitor cost and deal with all suppliers (Local & international) for discounts (Margin contribution)
  • Make proposals according the market;
  • Provide suggestions to promote the Sales products;
  • Make monthly/ quarterly report for dealers (Caterpillar and Allied brands);
  • Make budget together with departments (Rental & Nickerie), Sales reps from suppliers;
  • Manage the Surmac Nickerie branch financially and technically;
  • Develop and implement a strategic policy plan for Surmac Nickerie, so that Surmac's strategic goals can be achieved;
  • Facilitate guests who come on a company visit to the branch in Nickerie;
  • Advise customers regarding the purchase of machines from the offered and widest range of products, parts and the provision of services;
  • Manage the inventory of the Nickerie Branch.


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Economics or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a sales environment.
  • Proof of rental sales/commercial operation knowledge, gained through additional professional courses and/or work experience.

  • At least 2 years managerial experience.
  • Good comprehension of the languages French, Portuguese or Mandarin is an advantage.
  • Must have technical knowledge of Caterpillar equipment and other brands in the heavy- and light equipment categories.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of the Rental & Used equipment business.
  • Must have kKnowledge of heavy- and light equipment, their key performance specifications and their applications in different market segments.
  • Experienced in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).


Reporting structure

The Rental & Used and Nickerie Branch Manager reports to the Director Product Support & Commerce.

 

Work Schedule

  • 45 hours per week from Monday to Friday.
  • The base work location is Surmac Paramaribo and the working hours are from 7:00 – 16:00.
  • Availability required for work at the various Surmac locations.
  • Availability outside standard working hours, if required.
