Marketing Officer
Description
The Marketing Officer is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with customers and prospects to grow all lines of Surmac businesses. You will improve customer loyalty, attract and retaining new, active and inactive customers.
In addition, the Marketing Officer will be responsible for the development, execution, and coordination of all offline marketing activities at Surmac. This includes branding, campaigns, events, merchandise, promotional materials, internal communications, and employer branding.
Job Duties/ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Liaise with vendors and printing partners to manage production and distribution of print and promotional materials.
- Prepare and distribute physical assets such as brochures, flyers, banners, and signage.
- Ensure visual and message consistency across all offline touchpoints and mass media campaigns (TV, radio, print).
- Track effectiveness of offline promotions and adjust based on campaign performance.
- Plan and manage execution of Surmac’s events, including internal events, trade shows, client activations, and sponsorships.
- Align closely with Sales, Service, HR&D, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination.
- Oversee event logistics, visual branding, and on-site execution.
- Coordinate supporting media such as photography and videography for content use.
- Conduct post-event evaluations and integrate learnings into future planning
- Develop and execute internal communication campaigns to support employee engagement, safety awareness, and information flow.
- Collaborate with HR&D to create materials for onboarding, recognition, and internal events.
- Maintain internal content calendars for key employee campaigns and messaging moments.
- Design and implement branded visuals within office spaces (e.g., posters, bulletin boards, wall branding).
- Support recruitment marketing efforts through design and coordination of offline employer branding materials.
- Create content and visuals for career fairs, recruitment events, and employee-facing touchpoints.
- Work with HR&D and Marketing Manager to strengthen Surmac’s position as an employer of choice.
- Align messaging with internal culture and career development narratives.
- Coordinate design, ordering, and distribution of Surmac-branded merchandise.
- Manage inventory and stock levels and initiate timely restocking.
- Propose creative merchandise concepts aligned with brand strategy.
- Monitor effectiveness of giveaways and promotional item campaigns.
- Monitor and enhance physical elements of the customer journey (waiting areas, service desks, signage).
- Act as a brand ambassador by ensuring brand-aligned experiences across all physical customer interactions.
- Work with the Marketing Manager and Marketing Data Analyst to respond to customer feedback and implement improvements.
- Ensure all offline marketing and internal materials are fully compliant with Surmac and Caterpillar brand guidelines.
- Support audits and visual checks across marketing assets to guarantee consistent brand application.
- Translate strategic brand objectives into effective offline expressions.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communication, or a related field with 2 years’ experience in marketing execution, events, or brand coordination.
- Experience working with suppliers and printed material production is an advantage.
- Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Photoshop) is a plus.
- Experienced in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Must have a solid understanding of brand consistency and offline marketing principles.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar or dealer marketing is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, or French is an advantage.
Reporting structure
The Marketing Officer reports to the Marketing Manager.
Work Schedule
- 45 hours per week from Monday to Friday.
- The base work location is at Surmac Paramaribo, and the working hours are from 7:00 – 16:00.
- Availability for work at various Surmac locations.
- Availability outside standard working hours, if required.
