Account Manager Business Strategy - Oil & Gas (M/F)


Description

The purpose of the Account Manager Business Strategy - Oil & Gas is to drive strategic initiatives that enhance the performance, growth and competitiveness of the organization’s Oil & Gas section. This role bridges strategic planning, industry analysis, and operational alignment, ensuring that Surmac is well positioned in a highly dynamic and competitive industry.


Job Duties/ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Collaborate with management to design and implement an effective organizational structure tailored to the Oil & Gas and Marine industry.

· Analyze Oil & Gas and Marine industry trends and best practices to inform organizational strategies and operational efficiencies.

· Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within the Oil & Gas and Marine industry to enhance service delivery.

· Provide expertise in Procurement processes, ensuring that our services are comprehensive and aligned with industry standards.

· Assist in the development of procurement strategies that optimize cost, quality, and delivery timelines, including for Marine specific products and services.

· Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and assess their capabilities.

· Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms for the organization.

· Monitor and evaluate supplier performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

· Prepare reports and presentations for management on the strategy to grow our position in this industry.

· Oversee customer service strategies to address client needs in both Oil & Gas and Marine applications.

 

Education and/or Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering (Petroleum), Supply Chain Management, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.

· Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams and/or drive organizational change initiatives.

· Strong leadership skills, with a track record of motivating teams and managing cross-functional collaboration in dynamic environments.

· Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Dutch and French is considered an advantage.

· Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in the Oil & Gas and Marine industry, with a focus on business strategy, organizational development and procurement.

· Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

· Must have knowledge of the Oil & Gas and Marine Industry.

· Must have a strong understanding of procurement processes within the Oil & Gas and Marine industry.

· Must have analytical and problem-solving skills, negotiation and contract management skills, strategic thinking and business acumen skills.


Reporting structure

The Account Manager Business Strategy - Oil & Gas reports to the Manager Energy & Transportation (E&T).


Work Schedule

· 45 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

· The base work location is at Surmac Paramaribo and the working hours are from 7:00 – 16:00.

· Availability required for work at the various Surmac locations (Wanica & Nickerie).

· Availability outside standard working hours, if required.
