For our Surmac Education Center, we are looking for a:

PRACTICAL TRAINING ASSISTANT

Description
The Practical Training Assistant supports Surmac Education Center’s (SEC’s) instructional staff and assists students with practical assignments, ensuring they understand the tasks, have the necessary tools and materials to perform the tasks, and can apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. This role involves providing hands-on guidance to students, and helping to maintain a productive, organized and productive learning environment.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Assist Service Trainers in the preparation and delivery of practical training sessions;

· Prepare and organize tools, materials and equipment required for practical sessions;

· Assist students with the execution of practical assignments, providing guidance and support as needed;

· Demonstrate techniques and processes to students, ensuring they understand the correct methods;

· Support students in understanding and applying theoretical concepts to practical tasks;

· Provide support during practical assessments and evaluations;

· Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve;

· Provide feedback of student progress with the practical assignments to the Service Trainers;

· Ensure all practical work is carried out safely and in accordance with health and safety regulations;

· Identify and resolve any issues that arise during practical assignments;

· Troubleshoot technical issues with training equipment and report any malfunctions

· Support with maintaining a clean, safe and organized training environment.

· Manage SEC’s tools and equipment inventory.

Education and/or Experience

· Secondary vocational education (AMTO/NATIN) or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years’ CAT Dealer Technician experience is an advantage.

· Completed formal CAT Training at the foundational level is an advantage.

· CAT Component Remove & Install and Disassembly & Assembly experience is an advantage.

· Overhead Crane operation experience.

· Forklift Truck operation experience.

· Experienced in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Reporting structure

The Practical Training Assistant reports to Training Manager.

Work Schedule

· 45 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

· The base work location is at Surmac Paramaribo and the working hours are from 7:00 – 16:00.

· Availability required for work at the various Surmac locations.

· Availability outside standard working hours, if required.
