CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Surmac has chosen to not only pursue profits but to also fulfill its social responsibility. By considering society, its personnel and the environment in its operational management, Surmac wants to give substance to the social aspect.

COMMUNITY:

Surmac aims to support initiatives of groups and organizations that are intended for the improvement of the living conditions of the Surinamese community. With part of its earnings Surmac supports projects that promote the development of children, for example building schools, supplying educational material, making motivational speeches, etc.

In order to contribute to community development in a structural manner, Surmac put a sponsor policy in place. This policy is aimed at the objective processing and evaluation of requests from the community to Surmac. The policy consists of conditions that the request must meet and offers the requesting party a clear overview of what he needs to observe to obtain approval of his request.

Surmac is also in the process of establishing a Customer Loyalty Program for the benefit of customers that enable the company to give back to the community.

PERSONNEL:

As employer of more than 150 staff members Surmac strives towards the development and growth of its personnel. Surmac does this by making it compulsory for its personnel to attend at least 100 hours or work-related training courses in order to keep them up-to-date on current developments. Also, Surmac organizes an annual family day for its personnel so that colleagues and their families can enjoy a day that is fully taken care of by Surmac.

ENVIRONMENT:

Surmac makes every effort to be as careful with the environment as possible. Since Surmac deals in heavy equipment that may cause harm to the environment, it is of the utmost importance to consider the environment. Therefore, environmental awareness is vigorously promoted in its operational management.

For example, various initiatives are being developed in the field of separating, processing and recycling waste. Furthermore, in cooperation with Conservation International, Surmac works on the sustainable conservation of our environment.
