For our Surmac Education Center, we are looking for a:

SERVICE TRAINER

Description

The Service Trainer is responsible for providing technical training to Surmac employees and customers in the areas of Heavy Equipment Maintenance and Repair, Heavy Equipment Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, Component Disassembly and Assembly, and Heavy Equipment Systems Troubleshooting, using Caterpillar service information and training materials if available.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Develop and organize training course material in adherence to the Caterpillar (CIAP) standards;

· Deliver formal and on-the-job training to Surmac employees and Surmac customers;

· Demonstrate all aspects of procedures, skills and behavior that technicians are expected to demonstrate in a workshop/field environment;

· Evaluate training course participants based on participation and training objectives;

· Assess internal and external technical personnel and new hires/applicants;

· Assist in the Service Technician candidate selection process;

· Advise on the development plan and strategies for Surmac technical staff;

· Ensure proper housekeeping and condition of the equipment and tools that are used for training purposes;

· Perform accuracy checks on existing training material and ensure that training material is up-to-date;

· Interact with subject matter experts (internally and externally) when needed, to increase the quality and effectiveness of training;

· Report training results and data according to company and department procedures;

· Represent Surmac at various job fairs, trade shows, and local association functions.

Education and/or Experience

· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Automotive Engineering with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in heavy equipment or automotive repair and maintenance.

· Prior teaching or training experience is an advantage.

· Must have knowledge of various teaching methods and approaches.

· Must have extensive practical knowledge of mechanical and electrical processes and systems.

· Experienced in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Reporting structure

The Service Trainer reports to the Training Manager.

Work Schedule

· The base work location is at Surmac Paramaribo and the working hours are from 7.00 - 16.00.

· Availability for work at various Surmac locations and defined customer off-site locations.

· Availability outside standard working hours, if required.
